AdSense Alternative: Kontera ‘ContentLinks’

Kontera ‘ContentLinks’ are contextually relevant keywords generated in real time that appear on a publisher’s web page, where they are automatically turned into a link to the most relevant and highest paying text ad from one of Kontera’s thousands of advertisers.

They appear as ‘in-text’ links and the ad itself will appear when you roll the mouse over the link.

They look like this:

Kontera Content Links

For me, the smartest thing about ContentLink ads is that they effectively give you two shots at drawing the click, rather than just one.

Most ads of this type simply carry the url of the advertiser (see the next company, Miva, for a perfect example).

This is fine, but you may remember earlier in this report that we referred to ‘ad-blindness’?

Such ad-blindness seems to be especially prevalent when it comes to clicking on urls, as it is obvious to anyone that this will take you to the advertiser’s site.

ContentLinks, however, offers to bring you ‘More Info’ as well as the click through url!

I think that is a very, very smart psychological play in current advertising market conditions, and is something that I am confident would draw far more clicks than the simple url next to it!

Kontera’s technology also ensures that the most appropriate ads are served on your site, and that it is only the highest paying ads that are used too.

Plus, as ContentLinks are added dynamically, in real-time, only after the text on the site has been loaded, you retain complete control over your web content.

The final two things worthy of note about Kontera is that they do not appear to require a minimum number of visitors to your site in order for you to qualify for the program, (most pages with at least 50 words, in English are the only requirements that they have listed) and they also have a WordPress plug-in available, making it very easy to implement it on your blog.

All in all, ContentLinks is definitely one that I feel is well worth trying!
