AdSense Alternative: Nixxie
Nixxie is a UK based advertising service company who, like most of the other companies listed in this book claim to use ‘intelligent technology that can read and understand the content of your websites pages.’
They have a nice looking website, but the first impression is that there is nothing particularly stand out about it.
They are also very strict in their requirements for sites that they will accept as publishers, perhaps because the laws on this type of advertising seem to be a little stricter in the UK than in some other countries.
For example, they actually show the ‘Contractual Terms’ which they work to on their home page.
They also have a very detailed page of Minimum Requirements that a publisher page must satisfy to be accepted into the network.
They state that no more than one ad unit of the same content type may be displayed on the same page and that such ads can not be displayed in pop-ups, pop-unders, or on error pages, registration pages, thank you pages, chat pages, any email format or other interstitial internet page/media.
Plus, ads may not be placed on pages where there are less than 50 words of unique content and any website using Nixxie ads may not publish on its web pages advertising from competing advertising companies.
This includes but is not limited to all content-targeted advertising as well as text-based ads!
So, all-in-all, the Nixxie rules are very tough, and only you can decide whether you and your site can work within these rules and requirements.
Now, all of these requirements might be taken as negatives, especially if your site or blog does not ‘fit’ the stated criteria.
I would suggest however that you should perhaps view them as a sign of professionalism and adherence to high standard levels that are admirable.
And, if you can ‘match up’ to Nixxie’s requirements, then there are certainly advantages to working with them too.
They do supply ads for quite a number of big name operators, such as Overture, Miva, ThomsonLocal, Kanoodle, Kelkoo and Shopping.com and they do allow your ads to be geo-targeted, so that they will deliver the most appropriate listings to your users based on their location.
