Paid Ads Are Not Trusted

Most users and internet searchers are aware that the internet is a place where it is relatively easy to commit crimes, particularly of a financial nature. Online fraud is rife.

Thus, when they read of click fraud and so on (and, yes, it does still happen, despite Google’s best efforts) people will naturally start to question the trustworthiness of paid advertising online.

Plus, there could be an argument that AdSense is nowadays just too easy to sign up for and that, because of this, the ads appear on too many poor quality sites.

For example, there are many, many poor quality ‘portal’ sites that appear in search engine results. These will lead you around in circles, never taking you anywhere you want to go but still continually showing as many AdSense ads as possible on every page that you visit.

This is good for no-one involved in the PPC and contextual advertising business, and once again, AdSense suffers particularly badly because of its size and inflexibility.
